Communications and Marketing Content Manager

As the Communications and Marketing Content Manager at the UNC School of Education, I work to manage the brand and content on behalf of the School. I am responsible for planning, managing, and executing content, both written and visual, for the School's various publications and platforms, including print, web, social media, and more.

I play an active role in articulating and furthering the School's "Propel the World" brand message and the associated visual identity through the creation of compelling and creative content. Additionally, I capture and report social media data to help inform future content creation.

Key responsibilities included:

  • Strategic Content Planning and Creation: Develop and execute a strategic content plan that meets the School's growing needs and achieves strategic messaging goals for both internal and external audiences. 

  • Social Media Management: Oversee the School's four social media channels by managing a social media calendar, creating social content, monitoring social conversations, and tracking relevant metrics to enhance social media efficiency and effectiveness. Serve as an advisor for faculty program coordinators managing their own social media accounts within the School.

  • Constituent Engagement and Recruitment: Produce content that tells the stories of the School's 10+ academic programs to engage various audiences, report impact to funders, solicit new donors, and recruit future educators. 

Communications Strategy and Social Media Strategy + Management 

  • Plan, produce, post, and manage content for the School's social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and LinkedIn, and Threads

  • Monitor social media and the associated social conversations on behalf of the School, creating regular social media reports to track the progress of engagement.

Storytelling: 
Writing and Editing

  • Plan and execute the creation of marketing and communications content that conveys the stories of the School of Education and its people and programs.

  • Convey strategic messages to varying internal and external audiences for the purposes of:

    • Alumni relations

    • Student recruitment

    • Annual reporting

    • Peer perception and engagement

    • Individual/community accomplishments

Visual Content Creation 

  • Create content that includes both written and visual elements (design, photography, and video).

  • Develop content for the School's various print and digital publications, including:

    • Print and email newsletters

    • School website

    • Social media

    • Fundraising appeals
